Toronto band the New Deal
challenge
DJs with their live progressive breakbeat house
"[The jambands crowd] is very loyal," says [New Deal Drummer] Darren Shearer. "These are the people who drive
four hours to come see us play, or follow us around for five or six shows. They'll buy all the CD's and tell their friends
to buy the CD's and will download stuff from Napster and will go to e-tree and find a show like 'The New Deal live with
DJ Logic at the Wetlands.' And that's why things like Napster and the MP3 rage don't really concern me. In fact, I think
they've totally helped us. It shows you that grassroots promotion is really effective."

MP3 Meets It's Match
"If you're an audiophile who's into any one of the growing number of bands that
allow fans to record their live concerts, SHN is the way to go. The quality is strikingly
better than MP3, and the long download times are another example of patience paying off.
As Jerry Garcia used to sing, "Man, oh man, oh friend of mine, all good things in all good
time."
